| i went and saw polyphonic spree last night, and i should just say that it was possibly life changing. in all honesty, it was about the best show i could imagine. they present so much hope through their music. who says a band has to be "christian" to give hope? in any case, i left with more joy than i've probably had in a long time, so if you see me smiling today, that might be why. anyway, i could probably talk about it forever ( i mean, 21 people on stage...geez) but i won't. i will simply leave you with these lyrics:
live the life you choose, keep yourself feeling brand new. love your strife with life cause everyone wants to know why. and love your strife with youth, keep yourself feeling brand new. and love your strife with God, everyone wants to know love.
| "God is dead. God remains dead. And we have killed him. How shall we comfort ourselves, the murderers of all murderers? What was holiest and mightiest of all that the world has yet owned has bled to death under our knives: who will wipe this blood off us? What water is there for us to clean ourselves? What festivals of atonement, what sacred games shall we have to invent? Is not the greatness of this deed too great for us?" | | |
| today (well, yesterday) i bought tickets to see the decemberists and my brightest diamond at the tennessee theatre. i am awesome. | | |
| tonight:
stayed up too late playing guitar hero (im a dork) until... the power went out...i wonder if anyone else will be at chapel. it is snowing and it's actually sticking! i haven't slept yet (for the second night in a row) i made leg warmers out of old sweatshirt sleeves in preparation for the cold day ahead.
anything can happen on a snowday...
| i went to boomsday tonight (as i swore to myself not to do). leave it to east tennessee to name an event after a sound. in any case, fireworks don't usually do it for me, i will be honest. i like to shoot them off, but watching them gets kind of boring to me...and i dont consider myself too patriotic, which also takes away from the effect. when they played "proud to be an american" all i could think was that in my elementary school they made us listen to that song every morning after the pledge, which i also probably never understood or respected. but i will be honest, when they played amazing grace it did give me chills. most people in the english speaking world are familiar with the song, and i guess it means about as much as the pledge to most of us...but to really think of the words can almost make you cry. "amazing grace, how sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me. i once was lost, but now i'm found. was blind but now i see." that's incredible to me. and to see what i've done with this "new found" life...
any how, i got the new mewithoutyou cd, and it's really good. a lot of singing in it, and at one point i honestly forgot for a second who i was listening to and thought it was anathallo. but it's really great...always getting better, i really believe. so...listen to it, ok?
